Nimrodjo.com contacted me to let me know that he is having a contest for the new year. The prize: A 125 X 125 px ad space for a month (worth $25) in BlogSoc.com + USD 5 via PayPal. There are several ways to enter:

Comment in any post = 1 entry
Subscribe to this blog through RSS or email = 2 entries
Optional: Review his blog = 2 entries
Compulsory: Review BlogSoc.com (You must review BlogSoc.com in order to win) = 4 entries

My review:

BlogSoc.com is basically a site for bloggers to get to know new bloggers (and blogs) and to promote their own. It promises to provide opportunities for its members to earn shares in their society's earnings with a claim that they may be able to get real money for them in the future. Though not new, this is an interesting idea worth exploring, as it acts as an incentive for its members to participate actively. However, with an increasing number of websites promising similar goodies, it is important to build credibility by actually delivering tangible benefits (recall the Agloco case example).

I do like the logo and the layout of their website, which is easy on the eyes. However, it would be helpful if BlogSoc.com had an FAQ page which addresses some concerns of potential members, such as how they can earn their shares and how theses may be used. More background on the site and owners as well as a privacy policy may also act as an assurance for visitors and potential members. Nonetheless, they seem to have a growing community of members which bodes well for the future.

New Year Contest: More Prizes Added & Easier To Enter!

If you aren't already aware, Blog Paradise is having a New Year Contest to give away lots of free advertising and now, we're upping the stakes! There will be 5 more prizes of a text link in my blogroll for 1 month added so there will be 10 winners now! How's that for winning odds? Each person can win only one prize so there will be 10 different winners!

I've also decided to make it easier to enter the contest. You can now enter by subscribing to my RSS feeds either via a reader or via email (and yes, you can also do both for one entry each). Leave a comment on the original contest post after you've done so. If you're already a subscriber through your reader, just leave a comment on the original contest post to be entered. For those subscribing via a reader, you will have to tell me in your comment how I can contact you if you win (e.g. leave your email, blog/website address or some way where I can reach you). If you don't want to leave these information publicly, you can use my contact form to send them to me but do make sure you still leave a comment to tell me you've entered. I will track all entries through the comments on the original contest post so if you've not commented, you're not in.

Win $100 If You Vote The Winning Blogger

The new year seems to be getting off to a flyer with several $100 contests flying about. Tyler from TylerCruz.com and Gyutae from WinningTheWeb.com have decided that they want a piece of the action as well so they are offering 3 prizes of $100 each to 3 lucky bloggers.

To enter, you must do a blog post (minimum 300 words) voting for either one of them and say why you think that particular blogger deserves to win or why you are voting for the particular blogger. At the end of the contest, the blogger who gets the higher number of votes will randomly pick 3 winners from those who have voted for him and they will each get $100 via Paypal, "happily" sponsored by the losing blogger! Check out the contest post by Tyler for the full contest details. The contest ends on 14th January 2008, 6pm, PST.

Well, as you may have guessed from the previous paragraph, my vote goes to Tyler Cruz. Why? Perhaps it is because I'm a fool to reject the almost certain bonus prize of a free T-shirt offered by Gyutae for voting for him? Nah. Gyutae seems like a great guy but my vote still goes to Tyler, bonus prize or not.

Tyler gets my vote as I've been impressed with how he has grasped the opportunities that have come his way, such as the cool $23k he made last year for brokering someone's domain. I've also enjoyed reading his many reviews which have been very thorough and professionally done. He has also written several interesting and useful articles as well, such as this recent one on the importance of market research. Despite his tender age, he is already running several websites of his own and earning a fair bit of income as well.

So folks, go support one of them and you may just find yourself $100 richer!

Why Some Contests Fail To Enter Paradise...

You may be wondering why some contests publicized on other blogs do not appear on Blog Paradise. This is mainly because I spend a fair bit of time to filter out certain contests for the benefit of my readers. Similarly, not all contests submitted to me get published eventually.

If you have noticed, you do not see any contests which originate from adult-related sites or blogs with adult-related themes. This is to ensure the family-friendly atmosphere of this blog.

You will also be hard-pressed to find any contests which impose geographical restrictions on entry as I really do not like excluding anyone from a contest. There is no hard and fast rule about this as many other factors come into play which I also consider when selecting a contest to be published here.

I must make it clear that I am in no way against such contest holders, nor am I inferring anything negative about them. It is just a self-imposed principle of mine which I wish to maintain for this blog as a personal responsibility towards my readers. This is also what differentiates Blog Paradise from some of the other blogs.

Of course, I love feedback so I welcome any suggestions, thoughts or comments you may have about this.

Site Hop With SiteHoppin'

Max and his team, the creators of OneBuckWiki, FiveDollarWiki and several other fantastic sites, have created yet another great site called SiteHoppin'. These guys are really dedicated and you've got to lend them your support by checking out this new venture.

SiteHoppin' is basically a social networking/bookmarking site which, as the name implies, allows one to hop from site to site based on your interests. By clicking on the "Site Hop" button, you can surf the web to find good blogs, pictures, videos, websites etc. It is based on MediaWiki, which powers the popular Wikipedia, and runs on ideas drawn from well-known sites like StumbleUpon and Del.icio.us.

This site is still in beta testing so you can be part of the evolving process by joining it now. SiteHoppin' promises a whole host of new features, some of which can allow you to "site hop" among your favorite sites on a daily basis or submit great sites and stories to them.

SiteHoppin' certainly sounds like an exciting project which you may want to be a part of. Check them out today!

A Brand New Year Brings....A New Entrecard Contest

What can you expect in the new year? Well, one thing that can be said is that the Entrecard craze is still on!

RenaisNet, a blog which seeks to bring its readers the latest news and information on topics that can make their lives better, is holding a contest to give away 3000 Entrecard credits or more.

New Year, New Theme

You may have noticed that Blog Paradise Contest Blog has got a new theme for the new year! I just thought that it would be a great time to freshen things up and improve the layout of this blog.
