Move To A Wordpress Blog

Blogging Mix is a blog by Rocai about blogging. The name is interestingly adapted from the well-known marketing mix concept. Rocai talks about things like search engine optimization, making money from blogging and other blogging tips. He has some really useful articles, such as this one on the importance of reading for bloggers.

Blogging Mix is now having a contest to give away a 2-Year Hosting Service at SiteGround.com, a domain name of your choice to go with your new blog as well as a Block Magazine Wordpress Theme designed by Wordpress Rockstar Adii to a lucky winner (plus more possible prizes if he can get some sponsors). What's more, he'll even provide assistance to the winner in switching over to Wordpress and do an interview and review of the winner's blog and Wordpress experience.

DatMoney is hosting his first blog contest. The prizes offered will depend on the number of people who subscribe to his feed.

For each new subscriber:
He will add $0.50 into the pot and 20 Entrecard Credits.

The prizes are allocated as follows:
First place will receive 75% of the pot
Second place will receive 25% of the pot
Third place will receive a custom made banner design by him (and possibly Entrecard Credits)

The Beta News Contest

Dennis from The Beta News, a blog which posts blogging advice, interviews, articles etc, is hosting his first contest and it's quite a huge one!

To enter the contest, he has given many options as below:

Option 1: Follow me on Twitter. At a random time I will announce a keyword on Twitter and the followers will have three hours to mail it to me. A random follower will then be drawn.

Option 2: Keyword in RSS-feed. Subscribe to my RSS-feed and mail the keyword to me. Send the “secret” word to contest (at) thebetanews.com.

Option 3: Blog about the contest or The Beta News content. Write a blog post about the contest, or one of the sponsors, or one of The Beta News posts (for instance one of the Show Me Your Desktop interviews) using relevant anchor text like “celebrity blogger interview, problogger interview or blogging advice”. Another example could be my post about why virtual worlds are the next Web 2.0 money maker. Anchor text examples here could be “Web 2.0 and virtual worlds”, ” webkinz and clubpenguin.com is a money maker” or something similar. Basically anchor texts are links that features keywords about the post being linked to. Remember to Stumble your post and if you think it’s really good, submit it to digg, sphinn or other sites.

Remember to post a link in a comment in the contest post. I will Stumble your post as well. I can only encourage you to Stumble other contestants posts too.

Option 4: Take a picture of your blog “HQ” or desktop. Take a picture or a small video of what your blogger HQ, desk or computer desktop looks like. Post it in a blog post and link to this post.

Push Standards Contest

Tom from Push Standards contacted me regarding the first contest he is holding at his new blog. I love to help new blogs so here goes: Tom will be choosing the best blog post or review of his blog over the next month. The prize is a month of free advertising worth $25 plus $25 cash.

Tom is not actually a newbie as he has been a web designer for more than 8 years, despite the fact that he is still only in university. His new blog is typical of a web designer's blog, with its own unique design and style. I think the most commendable fact about Tom is that he is moving beyond his comfort zone of web designing into other areas like domaining, marketing and online business ventures.
